The frustration of the Superman/Wonder Woman Fandom as expressed by our very own godstaff
“There seems to be more merchandise about Supes and Wondy as a couple than any other pairing in comic history. And they’re not even one! No other stable or unstable “romantic” duo had so much exposure as this. DC franchises put them together in every conceivable selling item, yet DC Comics writers, or, more precisely editors, refuse to involve them romantically in their main stream books or animations!”
“…double standards…”
Yeah, Gus, we share your frustration. Best selling graphic novels, greeting cards, Halloween Costumes, cosplays, action figures, t-shirts, homage in televison and movies, His and Hers merchandise, household, baby items, wedding merchants, accessories etc etc…And then there is the fact that the characters in main stream comics DO have synergy and chemistry together. So much wasted potential by the powers that be.

Let’s face it, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head are the original cosplayers. So it’s fitting that they’ll soon be suiting up as two of the most universally recognized DC super heroes: Superman and Wonder Woman!
He may be made of plastic, but this summer Mr. Potato Head will be dressed as the Man of Steel, complete with his classic costume and cape. Meanwhile, Mrs. Potato Head pays homage to Wonder Woman, wearing her tiara, bracelets and lasso of truth. Each figure stands 6” tall, and is perfectly built for play or display…or both!
Enjoy this exclusive first look at Wonder Woman Mrs. Potato Head, presented below along with her super companion, and look for both Potato Head figures in specialty and collectible stores and websites this August!
Nice left of field acknowledgement that cosplaying couples often dress up as Diana and Kal - which in itself makes a powerful argument for the pairing.
The much beloved and admired “H” - the Hippolyta of our community ( at least that’s what I’m saying after a couple of glasses of red ) has updated her blog with reviews of Superman # 5 and JL # 5 and Action #6.
You’ll also find New 52 Wonder Woman reviews too.
Be warned dear friends “H” says.
There are a lot of spoilers so avoid if you intend to read the books and don’t
want to know….
There are some great images including “H” ‘s panel of issue pick, as well as insightful words.

…now we have an entire culture that thinks that who they are is JUST FINE and how dare anyone suggest that they can improve themselves. Why aspire to be Superman when it’s so much easier to relate to Spider-Man? No one wants to look up to you anymore, Superman. They don’t want to strain their necks.
kryptonian super science says you should totally let me get in your pants, lady.
Remember folks comic-bookery is over here, mainly,..
The guns ( at a guess ) belong to Eros, who sports modern threads and has C21 forgone the bow and arrow,..
…it’s like when they do Shakespeare in contemporary dress - as it was first played.
Azzarello & Chiang are giving the Greek gods street clothes.
If Diana is comfortable with a sword then why not a gun?
Either she uses ( or requires as the story demands ) offensive weapons or she does not.
While demi-god-level heroes don’t generally need to pack an iron, because all things being equal they can handle most threats with their respective power sets. However the only way to effectively bring on the excitement of personal jeopardy is to put them in situations where there power sets are negated for example Diana in Hell - or - Doomsday vs Superman.
Who would have begrudged Superman the “Sword of Superman” - and his new armour - when going up against Doomsday?
“Needs must when the Devil drives.”
